Macaque unwilling to leave rescuer and return to wild

A macaque who was rescued by a farmer in SW China’s Yunnan Province, may not be freed anytime soon.

The animal was saved from drowning by Liu Laowu about one month ago, and appeared addicted to her caretaker everytime Liu tried to release her into the wild.

Macaques are a nationally protected species. But as she seems unvilling to return to nature, police officers say, the two-month-old may need to stay with Liu for a while before she can finally be freed to the forests.
