By his victory gesture, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro showed confidence before casting his ballot for the National Assembly polling in Caracas on December 6.

“(I am here) to legislate for the people and legislate for national independence. Please know correctly the wisdom emanating from the exercise of popular power every day from the communities and those wonderful forms of social movements.”
Contrary to wide speculation, the election went peacefully so far, where the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela was poised to defend its majority in the uni-chamber legislature, though faced a mounting campaign from the opposition coalition.
The vote started in the early morning across the country and will end before midnight.
