Major rail line halts service for 58 min to allow for swing span bridge installation

A major rail line halted service for 58 minutes on Tuesday morning to allow for the installation of a center bearing swing span flyover bridge.

The fish-bellied box girder overpass with variable height, located in Shijiazhuang, capital of north China’s Hebei Province, is the first of its kind in China.

The flyover is built across an over 2,000km-long railway and a major highway, both linking Beijing with the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou.
