Malaysian PM Najib Razak accused of pocketing $670 mln

Tens of thousands of Malaysians are expected to protest for a second day in Kuala Lumpur, calling for Prime Minister Najib Razak to resign over a financial scandal. Nearly 700 million US dollars were allegedly channeled from state funds to his personal bank accounts. The cash was reportedly sent through a number of companies linked to 1MDB, which was founded by Najib in 2009 to develop new industries. Swiss authorities have launched a money-laundering probe against the fund. Malaysia’s central bank completed its probe into 1MBD on August 13 and filed the finding to the attorney-general. The details have not been made public.
