Mallya Declared ‘Proclaimed Offender’

A Special court in Mumbai on Tuesday (June 14) declared businessman Vijay Mallya a ‘proclaimed offender’. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had moved the court against Mallya in connection with its money laundering probe in an alleged bank loan fraud case. The special PMLA court in Mumbai issued the order under Section 82. The ED wanted Mallya declared proclaimed offender on the grounds that he has “multiple” arrest warrants pending against him including a non-bailable warrant (NBW) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
