Maltese cargo ship impounded after sinking fishing boat in East China Sea

A foreign cargo ship has been impounded for allegedly causing the sinking of a Chinese fishing boat with 19 on board in the East China Sea. Preliminary investigations have shown that a Maltese cargo ship, the Catalina, is suspected of colliding with the local fishing boat about 80 nautical miles east of the Zhejiang Province port of Ningbo. Two crew members were saved but later died, while 17 remain missing. The Donghai Fleet of the Chinese Navy and other ships nearby are continuing the search for the missing crew.
