When a man surnamed Yang from Yichang city, Hubei Province, caught a 35-kilogram fish in the Yangtze River and carried it on his shoulder, he caught the attention of many local residents. He later cut the fish and sold it for more than 700 yuan (108 US dollars) . Later it was found that the fish was a 20-year-old Yellow Cheek Carp. Though fishing using a hook is permissible in the Yangtze River, many netizens complained that the fisherman should have set it free but not sliced it to pieces for consumption.
