About 40 inmates are transferred onto a Sunsets Festival flight in the afternoon of May 12 in the federal prison in the city of Ciudad Juarez in Mexico’s northern state of Chihuahua.
The airplane is bound for the Abraham Gonzalez International Airport in the city.
Notorious drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman was just transferred to this jailhouse from his previous confinement in central Mexico four days ago.
After his shift of location, official source declared that the time was ripe to extradite the kingpin to the United States, where he was wanted for various charges of drug trafficking.
It can’t be confirmed whether Guzman is among the 40 or so shackled jailbirds aboard the aircraft.
However, two buses, two armored trucks of the Federal Police and dozens of federal agents are mobilized for the 40-minute-long operation, which is rare and unusual for the prison.
