“The legacy Fidel leaves for Cubans is our independence. The concept of (his) revolution signals the direction to continue the path that he taught us. I am here for Fidel, the homeland and the revolution.”
The mass tribute will last two days, before the legendary figure’s ash starts its 1,000-kilometer trip across the island to eastern city Santiago for perpetual rest.
(Soundbite, Spanish) Lucia Almanza, Havana Resident
“We must continue the struggle, continue to be firm, stand by the concept of (his) revolution and keep it alive.”
Fidel Castro launched his revolution 60 years ago in Santiago, all the way later reviving Cuba as an independent and dignified country in the Caribbean.
