Merkel: EU redistribution scheme on migrants ‘too slow’

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said Europe needs to secure more deals with other nations to return migrants who do not qualify for asylum in the continent. Merkel told the press at a summit in Vienna on the refugee crisis that the EU’s relocation scheme to distribute migrants among member states was “too slow”. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, meanwhile, proposed the EU could set up a “giant refugee city” on the Libyan coast, with the help of a new government in the country, where asylum for refugees arriving from Africa could be processed.
