Missing radioactive material found dumped in south Iraq

Iraqi authorities on Sunday recovered Iridium-192 that had gone missing from an oil storage facility in the country’s south in November. According to Reuters, the material was stored in a protective case the size of a laptop computer. It was undamaged, and there were no concerns about radiation. Iridium-192 is classed as a Category 2 radioactive source by the IAEA. It can lead to burns in the short term and cancer over a longer period.
