Moderate earthquakes jolt SW China

Two moderate earthquakes hit a prefecture in southwest China’s Yunnan Province in the early hours of Wednesday, forcing 6,800 people to evacuate and damaging 38,000 houses.

According to the provincial civil affairs department, a 5.0-magnitude quake struck Yunlong County in Bai Autonomous Prefecture of Dali at 12:48 a.m.. Another 4.6-magnitude quake struck Eryuan County in the same prefecture 17 minutes later.
