Mosquito-borne Zika virus spreading in Americas

The Zika virus has now swept through more than 20 countries throughout the Americas. The mosquito-borne virus is thought to be linked to a serious birth defect known as microcephaly, a condition in which babies are born with abnormally small heads. The World Health Organization warned this week that the Zika virus could spread across all of the Americas, apart from Canada and Chile. No treatment or vaccine is available.
