Myanmar’s military lawmakers have refused to take part in a parliamentary vote to create a new presidential advisory role for Aung San Suu Kyi. The Lower House has passed the bill despite the protest. Military representatives are calling the bill unconstitutional because Myanmar’s constitution bars candidate with foreign spouses or children from taking office.
