The Nanjing Massacre continues to hold a deep resonance in the hearts of people across China. In a period of just six weeks during the Japanese occupation of the city in December 1937, some 300,000 people were brutally killed by Japanese forces. Even today, the horrific events of the past cast a shadow over ties between the two countries.
