Nationwide strike in France disrupts nuclear energy production

France’s largest labor union has joined a nationwide strike to protest government plans to reform France’s labor laws. The strikes have affected businesses, disrupted energy supplies, and caused power shortages. According to France’s grid operator, nuclear power output has dropped by at least five gigawatts Wednesday. The government has been forced to use strategic oil and fuel reserves to compensate for the loss.
