Nearly 400 critically endangered baby crocodiles seized by Chinese police

Police on Monday prevented the illegal sale of 399 Siamese crocodile hatchlings after searching a house in Dongxing City, in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The Siamese crocodile, a first-class nationally protected animal in China, is a small, freshwater reptile native to Southeast Asia, and is critically endangered and threatened with extinction in the wild. The suspect, named as Mr. Ye, has been taken into custody with the case under further investigation.
