Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli, known as KP Oli in Nepali politics, was sworn in as Nepal’s new prime minister on Monday. Oli was elected in a parliamentary vote on Sunday, with the backing of 14 of the country’s 31 parties. He was sworn in by Nepali President Ram Baran Yadav and will face the daunting task of reuniting a country deeply divided over a new constitution while tackling crippling fuel shortages and reconstruction after April’s devastating earthquake.
