Nepartak in Taiwan: Thousands driven from homes and more than 500 flights cancelled

Typhoon Nepartak has left Taiwan’s western coast, causing flooding and strong winds. Coconut trees have been bent by gales as Nepartak left the island and headed west towards the Chinese mainland. Around 15,000 people have been evacuated while over 180,000 homes suffered power outages. One person has been killed and 66 others injured. Train services have been suspended, and more than 300 international and 250 domestic flights have been cancelled.
