China’s meteorological center has issued a yellow alert for air pollution this morning, warning of a new round of heavy smog. The smog will affect northern China including Beijing and Tianjin municipalities and Hebei and Shanxi provinces, parts of China’s central province of Henan and eastern province of Shandong, and also Shaanxi Province in the northwest. Beijing saw only seven days of blue skies in December, with two rounds of red alerts – the city’s highest air pollution warning.
