New tech used for verification of China’s national exam

Fingerprinting and facial scans are used to verify the exam takers in the south Chinese city of Guangzhou.

The authorities say they uploaded the verification systems of nearly 60 exam sites this year.

SOUNDBITE (CHINESE): QU CHAOBIN, Head, Guangzhou education bureau
“If some students don’t pass the verification, they could take the exam first and come back for the verification. So we won’t waste their time for the exam.”

Some sites are also using metal detectors and cameras in order to put a stop to cheating.
