US Secretary of State John Kerry has met with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Geneva to discuss a ceasefire in Syria. Talks lasted almost 12 hours. Afterwards, they announced they were very close to the final stages of an agreement, but no deal was officially reached, with talks set to continue in the near future. He Wenping from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Vyacheslav Matuzov, an independent political analyst and former Russian diplomat, and P. J. Crowley, former US Assistant Secretary of State, debated the prospects for and obstacles to peace in Syria.
