The people of New Zealand have voted NOT to change the country’s flag after a yearlong debate over whether the country should choose an alternative design. The current flag carries a Union Jack to reflect the country’s British heritage. The Government wanted to replace it with a new design that features a silver fern as the national emblem. But when preliminary votes were counted last night, 56 per cent opted to keep the existing flag.
