Nigeria opens new investigation of 2014 Chibok girls kidnapping

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered a new investigation to look into the kidnapping of 219 schoolgirls by the Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram, in April 2014 from the town of Chibok. A statement released on Thursday said a panel would be announced by the country’s national security advisor. The panel will be able to “unravel the remote and immediate circumstances leading to the kidnapping of the girls by Boko Haram terrorists as well as the other events, actions and inactions that followed the incident”.
