NTU to develop Singapore’s first virtual power plant

Households and businesses which produce their own renewable energy may soon sell the excess energy that they do not consume. Singapore is set to develop its first Virtual Power Plant (VPP), which will send unused green energy to the national power grid. The excess energy is redistributed when energy demand spikes. Nanyang Technological University is developing the VPP through
a grant from the Energy Market Authority and Sembcorp. It is expected to be ready by end-2021.
