NYC mayor says Chelsea explosion was ‘intentional act’ but no evidence of terrorism

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a press conference that early indications from an explosion in the city’s Chelsea district are that the explosion “was an intentional act,” but “there is no evidence at this point of a terror connection,” and there was no “credible and specific threat” to the city as a whole. The city’s Fire Commissioner, Daniel Nigro, said 29 people were injured as a result of the explosion, with one person in serious condition. No life threatening injuries were reported.
