One small town in Spain fights back against female genitalia mutilation

In Spain it is estimated that more 17,000 girls under the age of fifteen are at risk of female genitalia mutilation (FGM). In one region of the country authorities are fighting back to try and make the practice a thing of the past not, just by clamping down on the illegal practice, but through education and rolling out a special program.

FGM is the tradition of removing some, or all, of a woman´s external genitalia and is actively practiced in thirty countries around the world.CGTN’s Dan Williams has the story.
