Online Taxi Drivers are about to go for indefinite strike
Drivers working for Uber, the app-based taxi service have decided to begin an indefinite strike from Tuesday. Though, the strike is called by the All Kerala Online Taxi Drivers Union, only drivers working for Uber will suspend their services from tomorrow.
The drivers have demanded the management to ensure stable incentive structure, security for staff and restore the perks and benefits. Online cabs that began in the state just a few months back have become the most sought after means of transport due to their hassle-free services. The app-based taxis mostly operational in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam had gone for a lightning strike earlier this month due to the frequent changes in the service conditions, payment structure and the new rule which stipulates that drivers have to work up to 16 hours per day.
