Over 220,000 Afghans abandon homes amid severe drought

The worst drought Afghanistan in years has forced nearly a quarter-million people to give up their homes and move west to cities like Herat. International aid groups say that without urgent assistance, over 10 million people, which is more than a quarter of Afghanistan’s population, could be classified as “food insecure” by next year.
