A French parliamentary inquiry into last year’s terrorist attacks in Paris has recommended the fusion of the country’s myriad intelligence services into a single agency. The establishment of “a national anti-terrorism agency” was proposed by Sebastien Pietrasanta, a Socialist Party member. The structure of the body suggested would resemble that of the US National Counter-Terrorism Center. Lawmakers also recommended better European intelligence co-operation. Officials say the inquiry revealed many problems in the French intelligence domain.
