Surveillance footage captured the moment an out-of-control car reversed from an intersection in Yichang, central China’s Hubei Province, knocking over an old man resting on the sidewalk. Residents rushed over from nearby to help rescue him. The senior citizen was trapped beneath the vehicle and could not move. It took more than 10 people to lift the car. With their tireless efforts, they finally pulled the man from beneath the car and sent him to hospital.
After a police investigation, it was found that the driver had parked his car on a gentle incline, but forgot to pull the handbrake. The driverless vehicle then rolled down the slope in reverse for around 50 meters. The elderly man suffered some bone fractures, and was kept in hospital for observation. The driver was taken in by the police for further questioning.
