Peru copper mine acquired by Chinese companies begins sending shipment to China

The first shipment of about 10,000 tonnes of copper concentrate produced as part of commissioning activities at the Las Bambas Project arrived in China on Sunday.

In 2014, Las Bambas was acquired by a joint venture owned by MMG Ltd., GUOXIN International Investment Corp. Ltd. and CITIC Metal Co. Ltd. at a price of 10.5 billion U.S. dollars.

The mine has an Ore Reserve of 7.2 million tonnes of copper and a Mineral Resource of 12.6 million tonnes of copper.

It is expected to produce more than 2 million tonnes of copper in concentrate in its first five years.
