Philippine President Duterte threatens to quit UN over drugs censure

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has threatened to leave the UN after it blamed his government for extra-judicial killings related to drugs crimes. About 900 suspected drugs traffickers have been killed since Duterte came to power on a promise to wipe out drugs-related crime. UN human rights experts have urged Manila to do more to end the illegal practice, and claimed extra-judicial killings have escalated. Duterte has denied government responsibility and criticized the UN for disrespecting his country and not doing enough to address hunger and terrorism in the world.
