Philippine presidential election: Rodrigo Duterte set to become next president

Early this morning, a rolling ballot count by the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting showed Rodrigo Duterte, the mayor of the southern city Davao, had won almost 39 percent of all votes cast, with 90 percent of ballots now counted. He was more than 5 million votes ahead of his nearest rival Manuel Roxas, holding a clear lead in the election vote count. Senator Grace Poe won more than a fifth of the votes counted, running third in the election.
