Philippines holds separate naval exercises with US, Japan

The Philippines is holding separate but simultaneous naval exercises with the United States and Japan. The drills are both being held on Palawan, the closest land mass to China’s Nansha Islands, in the Sulu Sea. The Philippine military says the two drills are aimed at strengthening security ties, and there is no plan for the three navies to join forces.
