Polls have closed for the Philippines’ presidential election and candidate Rodrigo Duterte has taken an early lead, according to unofficial tallies carried out by local media. CNN Philippines was compiling data released by the election commission. It reported that Duterte had 1.3 million votes, or about eight percent of the total ballot counted –nearly double his nearest rival Senator Grace Poe.
