Philippines slashes $20 mln fund for contraceptives

Anger is boiling over in the Philippines after legislators took more than 20 million US dollars out of the health department’s budget. The money was intended for the purchase of contraceptives to be distributed to poor women. Critics worry the actions will have dire consequences, especially affecting the poorest of society, returning to a state of affairs that existed when there wasn’t a law promoting reproductive health.
