Philippines, U.S. cut short joint military drill

Amphibious landings, live-fire drills…The joint military drill by the U.S. and the Philippines has been cut short by one day. The war games, which kicked off on Oct. 4, would end on Tuesday instead of Wednesday as originally scheduled. Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, who assumed presidency in June, has said he wants this joint exercise to be the last in his six-year presidency. He also wants to halt all 28 exercises carried out with the U.S. each year.
