The Supreme Court (SC) will next week hear a plea to file an FIR against the people allegedly bribed in the AgustaWestland chopper scam. On Wednesday, Rajya Sabha proceedings were taken over by accusations and counter accusations traded by BJP and Congress MPs about who was involved in the Rs 3,600 crore chopper scam. BJP MP Subramanian Swamy , in the House, mentioned Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s name in connection with the scam leaving Congress MPs furious. Rajya Sabha deputy chair PJ Kurien expunged Swamy’s comments that mentioned Sonia Gandhi. Congress chief Sonia Gandhi hit back at the BJP yesterday saying she’s not afraid as she has nothing to hide. Let them take my name,” Sonia told the media. The CBI is studying an Italian court judgment that has held that the previous UPA regime did not provide adequate evidence and critical documents in time to Italian prosecutors during their probe in 2013-2014.
