Plane crash increases concerns over tourism in Egypt

In the last few years, Egypt’s tourism industry has been declining due to political unrest. Although officials from the country’s tourism department have claimed the industry is expected to recover, the crash of EgyptAir flight MS804 from Paris to Cairo could damage the sector further. Tourism was one of the key industries in Egypt, once accounting for 12 percent of Egypt’s GDP. Egypt’s ancient and beautiful resorts had attracted millions of tourists from around world until the revolution in 2011, when the country fell into turmoil.
