Police act as midwives as baby born in the middle of a Shanghai street

A pregnant woman who had gone into labor stood by the side of the road, planning to take a taxi to her husband’s family in Shanghai on April 11. But the baby had other ideas. The expectant mother suddenly squatted to the ground and found that she was unable to walk. Two local police officers who happened to be passing by quickly established a temporary roadside “delivery room” with other pedestrians. The police officers immediately reported to their command center that they were on midwife duty. They took two riot shields and used their uniforms as a barrier to surround the woman. After 20 minutes the woman successfully gave birth to a baby girl. An ambulance then arrived at the scene to take the new mother and daughter to a nearby hospital. Take a look at the dramatic scenes that eventually saw a happy ending.
