Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi today reiterated his charge at the Central government, saying that the National Herald case was “pure 100% political vendetta” by the government. He said that the source of this “vendetta” was the Prime Minister’s office. However, despite raising a hue and cry about the Herald case, Gandhi added that he had “full faith in judiciary”. Yesterday, Delhi High Court had rejected the Gandhis’ plea to quash summons against them, ruling that they will have to appear in the trial court now. A Delhi Court today directed the Gandhis to appear in the court on December 19 at 3 pm in connection with the case. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has alleged that Associated Journals Ltd (AJL), the publisher of the now-defunct National Herald newspaper, had received an interest-free loan of ₹ 90.25 crore from the Congress and that the party transferred the debt to Young India Ltd (YIL), “a firm in which Sonia and Rahul Gandhi each own a 38-percent stake”, for ₹ 50 lakh.
