Poland’s Law and Justice party, PiS made strong gains securing 37.6% of the vote in the general election, while the ruling Civic Platform, PO, garnered only 24.1% of the vote, as per provisional results announced by the National Electoral Commission. It is not immediately clear whether the final result, which will be announced later on Tuesday, would allow the Law and Justice party to rule on its own. However, if the provisional results are confirmed, then this would be the biggest victory for a single party in terms of seats in more than two decades.
