US President Barack Obama announced on Thursday that he will visit Cuba on March 21 and 22 and meet with cuban leader Raul Castro. White House deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes said that the new US-Cuba policy is aimed at creating “irreversible” progress in relations between the former foes. Obama has said that his trip’s main objective will be to “improve the lives of the Cuban people.” Rhodes also said the discussions expected between the US and Cuba would not include Guantanamo Bay, the US detention facility in Cuba.
