Authorities in south China’s Guangdong Province have held a press conference on corruption investigation against the party chief and head of Wukan village Lin Zunian, who was arrested over the weekend. Wukan was thrown into the international spotlight in 2011 when its residents staged large-scale rallies over four months against alleged illegal land grabs and corruption by village officials, leading to village polls that saw Lin democratically elected in 2012, and re-elected in April 2014.
