Over 2000 people took part in the Pride Parade held in Slovak’s capital city of Bratislava over the weekend.
Organizer told CNC that this year’s parade was attended by more people than the year of 2014 where came around 1,500 people. Last year’s parade was cancelled due to certain policies issued that was unfavourable for the parade.
Bratislav Pride Parade follows similar actions abroad. Organizer decided to link this year’s pride with a Life-Long Partnership campaign, which is a platform of Slovak NGOs aimed at getting public support for legal recognition of same-sex couples and their families.
The main idea of the event is to show that all people are equal, regardless of their differences, such as sexual orientation and gender identity.
