In conversation with TIMES NOW, the researcher at St. Stephen’s college who filed a sexual harassment case against college bursar Satish Kumar, today said that the audio recordings revealed by her proved that college principal Valson Thampu had asked her to withdraw her complaint against Kumar. The complainant who has accused Kumar, her thesis-supervisor, of sexual harassment, has also named the principal in her complaint to the police for “trying to shield” Satish Kumar. “The principal had asked me to withdraw my complaint that I had submitted to the department. He had also said that if I did not follow his instructions, I will not receive my PhD,” she said. She further said that Kumar’s allegation that she was pressurizing him to write her thesis was false. “In the recordings you can hear that the supervisor himself had offered to write my thesis. If he is not guilty, why would he offer to write someone else’s thesis?” she said. The complainant has produced audio recordings, purportedly of four meetings between her, Thampu and Kumar held on January 7, 9 and 10 this year.
