Professors at Shanghai universities encouraged to launch start-ups

Professors at Chinese universities used to be banned from starting their own businesses unless they first quit their jobs. But that’s changing. Professors and researchers at several Shanghai universities can now establish their own start-ups while retaining their academic titles. Universities in Shanghai are working on detailed measures to ensure academics have no trouble coming back to work. They will be allowed to return to their original positions, while keeping social security benefits and contracts.
