Progress on China’s efforts to combat air pollution

The Ministry of Environmental Protection said the general air quality of the nation’s 74 key cities in 2015 was better than the previous year. Air quality for three more cities have reached standard limit. But the high PM 2.5 level in northern China’s Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei cluster lingered long in winter. The environmental authority has also identified two smog hot spots, which are both in north China. Experts say identifying hot spots is key to preventing and controlling pollution.
