Protest Against Tipu Sulatn Jayanti | Full Story

VHP workers held massive protests in Bengaluru on Wednesday (November 11) over the death of the VHP leader, who succumbed to his injuries yesterday after clashes broke out during a protest against Tipu Sultan Jayanti celebrations. 50-year-old Kuttappa, organizing secretary of VHP in Kodagu, was killed and over 30 other activists were injured during a protest march in Madikeri, about 250km from Bengaluru. Several organizations including VHP had called for a bandh to protest the government-sponsored Tipu Sultan Jayanti celebrations on Tuesday. However, the protest march took a communal turn, leading to violence. The police had to rush in additional reinforcements to take control of the situation. Meanwhile, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah has clarified that VHP leader Kuttappa was killed in an accidental fall and not due to stone pelting as reported earlier. The CM said Kuttappa slipped and fell into a deep gorge and sustained severe head injuries while he was being chased by the police.
